In our formal training we are often taught to keep the ‘person of the therapist’ in check, cloaked, and often concealed. In practice, we know that to do deeply rooted healing work we need to be intentionally connected to who we are and how we show up in the therapeutic container. So…who are you? (e.g. your social location, how you occupy space, generational lessons you hold close, etc.) How does who you are impact, season, or influence the way you practice?
What is your theoretical orientation, why? If you do not have a defined orientation, what ‘theory of change’ do you often gravitate towards? Why?
Why is relational work a niche interest to you? What previous training have you had around relational work (i.e., couples, family systems, IFS, psychodynamic, etc)?
What is or what do you desire to be your clinical niche? (moreover, who is your ideal client and how do you best help them? Why them?)
